FIDM Featured on Top 10 Sustainable Fashion Schools in the World List

FIDM Makes Top 10 Sustainable Fashion Schools in the World List

The University Network put together a list of 10 fashion schools, including FIDM, that offer degrees and courses on sustainable fashion.

The Top 10 Sustainable Fashion Schools in The World says FIDM "provides its students with a deep understanding of sustainable fashion and designs cross multiple departments." The accompanying write up highlights FIDM's Business of Denim Program. The University Network writes, "Based in California, the denim capital of the country, students majoring in Business of Denim learn about sustainable methods on developing denim products."

Last year, FIDM's vice president of education, Barbara Bundy, told Teen Vogue: "Denim is a preferred market for many of our graduates. It's also a prominent market developing and promoting more sustainable practices, from growing cotton to engineering yarn and fabrics.” The University Network calls out courses such as Sustainable Practices in the Product Lifecycle and Sustainable Practices in Design.

The list also highlights FIDM's experienced faculty, including Megan Dougherty, designer and sustainability coordinator at Dougherty & Dougherty, Susan Spencer of London Fog, Macy’s, and Giorgio Armani, and Tricia Edwards, who worked as fashion designer and textile designer for Geoffrey Beene and PacSun.
